Ukrainian citizens who received temporary protection on the territory of one of the member states of the European Union, in accordance with Decision (EU) 2022/382, can travel to other EU member states for a period of up to 90 days within 180 days.
If you entered the EU through Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Ireland, which are not part of Schengen free movement without border controls, you will be entitled to travel to other EU countries, but your documents will be re-checked in the first EU country that is part of the Schengen area – for example, if you cross the border between Romania and Hungary.
If you register and receive temporary protection in Bulgaria, you have the right to travel without a visa to the EU for 90 days within a 180-day period, but only Bulgaria will be obliged to grant you the rights arising from temporary protection.
Also, if you need to return to Ukraine for a short period of time, for example, to visit relatives, collect documents or rescue family members, you do not lose your temporary protection status.
Persons who have received refugee status (individual international protection) should not return to their country of origin (Ukraine), because it can become a reason for losing the refugee status.
