Do the persons, providing constant care for the elderly, have a right for assigning and for payment of compensation?

Yes, persons who provide social services for permanent care can receive compensation, but under certain conditions.

1. Compensation for caregivers who provide care on a non-professional basis

Compensation is granted if:

  • their average monthly gross income does not exceed UAH 2,920 (as of 2024).

2. Compensation for persons who provide care on a professional basis

Compensation may be granted if the person:

  • is not employed
  • is not an individual entrepreneur;
  • does not carry out other professional activities, in particular:
  • scientific
  • artistic
  • educational or teaching;
  • medical
  • legal (including advocacy, notary activities, etc.);
  • is not registered as unemployed.

Note:

The amount of compensation depends on the category of the person being cared for and is determined on an individual basis in accordance with the law.
