Olena Anatoliivna is an internally displaced person currently residing in Poltava region. During an informational session conducted by the lawyers of the NGO "Institute of Analytics and Advocacy" (IAA) on confirming property rights to housing during wartime, she learned about the opportunity to receive individual legal assistance.
Olena had an issue she could not resolve on her own, so in September 2024, she turned to IAA lawyer Dmytro for help. It turned out that she needed to enter information about her property rights into the State Register of Property Rights (SRPR), but the Poltava Administrative Service Center (ASC) refused her request verbally. The reason for the refusal was the lack of archived data on the legal documents confirming ownership.
The lawyer prepared an official request to the Bureau of Technical Inventory of the Kramatorsk City Council. For a long time, obtaining the requested information was unsuccessful due to an error in the technical documentation for the apartment. After clarifying all the details and ensuring the accuracy of the information, the Bureau staff issued the necessary certificate.
Before submitting a new request to the ASC, the lawyer carefully reviewed the available documents and informed the owner about the necessary steps. The assistance led to a positive outcome, and in September 2024, Olena received the documents confirming the relevant registration actions. Now, her ownership information is included in the SRPR, allowing her to confirm and protect her rights, including the right to compensation in case of damage to her home due to military actions.
The NGO "Institute of Analytics and Advocacy" provides free legal assistance in the Poltava region thanks to its cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and funding from the European Union.
