In August 2022, Vitaly* had to leave his hometown of Severodonetsk with his family.

Once in the Kharkiv region, the man began the process of applying for a pension and applied to the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region with an application to grant him an old-age pension on preferential terms according to List No. 2 (the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on industries, works, professions, jobs with harmful and difficult working conditions, in which full-time employment gives the right to an old-age pension on preferential terms), but some documents necessary for the appointment of a pension and confirmation of his work experience were lost during the transfer.

In order to recover the documents, the man turned to the lawyers of Caritas Kharkiv BF, a DRC partner, because he was unable to obtain a duplicate diploma on his own.

Lawyers helped to form an application for obtaining a duplicate diploma based on the information contained in the Unified State Electronic Database on Education, and as a result, Vitaly was able to receive the necessary document.

Now a man can re-apply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine and receive an appointment for the payment of an old-age pension.

BF "Caritas Kharkiv" provides free legal assistance to the war-affected population in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) thanks to the sincere support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance.
