The mobile application “Diia” has recently introduced a new feature allowing citizens to submit applications for Basic Social Assistance. This simplifies access to the program: instead of visiting social protection offices in person, people can now submit documents online using a convenient digital service. This approach is expected to reduce bureaucratic burdens, make the procedure more transparent, and improve accessibility, especially for families facing difficult life circumstances.
We previously reported on the launch of the Basic Social Assistance program. As a reminder, this is a pilot project providing financial support to low-income families. The program will start in July 2025 and will run until July 2027. More details are available at the following link: State support for low-income families.
To successfully apply for Basic Social Assistance, you need to:
1.Check eligibility for one of the vulnerable population categories entitled to support:
2.Set up a Diia.Card to receive payments.
3.Ensure you and all adult family members have an active Diia.Signature.
Diia.Signature is a modern alternative to the electronic digital signature, allowing documents to be signed remotely. No separate installation is required — everything works through the “Diia” app.
To activate Diia.Signature:
1) In the “Services” section, select “State Assistance” and then “Basic Social Assistance.”
2) Submit a preliminary application for benefit calculation by filling in all the required information according to the instructions.
3) Wait for a notification informing you of the approximate monthly amount of assistance.
4) If the calculation is acceptable, proceed with the application for payments.
5) Select your Diia.Card to receive social payments from the state.
6) Complete the application form.
7) Sign the application.
8) After signing, the application will automatically be sent to all adult family members for their signature using Diia.Signature.
9) Ensure that all family members included in the application sign it.
Important! The time to sign the application is limited. Agree in advance with your relatives so everyone can be available to sign on time.
10) Once all signatures are completed, the application will automatically be submitted to the Pension Fund of Ukraine for processing.
11) Payments will begin the following month after the application is approved.
Note: If you are unable to apply through “Diia,” you can contact the nearest Pension Fund of Ukraine office to submit your application in person.
