Gender-based violence is an extreme manifestation of discrimination based on gender. It has no social, age, economic or geographical limitations. During the war, the vulnerability to its manifestations only increases. That is why the DRC trains Ivankiv community representatives, local police officers, social workers and psychologists on how to ensure a victim-centered approach when responding to cases of gender-based violence.
Thus, in November 2023, in the Ivankiv Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of the Population, DRC specialists conducted a training on the legal mechanism of protection and support for victims of gender-based violence, dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is already traditionally celebrated on November 25.
During the training, the participants considered the main aspects of legal regulation of the activities of all actors of the system of response to gender-based violence and domestic violence, mechanisms of support and protection of victims of the community. Special attention was paid to the protection and support of child witnesses of violence.
The start of the "16 days against violence" campaign was marked by training participants with the support of DRC specialists by active participation in practical exercises aimed at overcoming the problems of complex response to incidents of violence, improving coordination mechanisms between services that provide assistance to affected community members.
The project "Civil society promotes resilience in Ukraine" is implemented by the Consortium led by the Danish Red Cross in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council and Dignity with the support of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
